چکیده

Atmospheric showers are initiated when primary cosmic rays hit the Earth’s atmosphere. Secondary mesons produced in this collision, mostly pions and kaons, decay and give rise to electron and muon neutrino and anti-neutrinos fluxes [1]. In the past Fréjus and NUSEX [2] reported a R-value (R = (μ/e)data/(μ/e)MC) consistent with one, therefore other detectors like Kamiokande, IMB and Soudan-2 [3] have measured R significantly smaller than unity. Recent Super-Kamiokande high statistics observations [4] indicate that the deficit in the ratio R is due to the number of neutrinos arriving to the detector at large zenith angles. The main aim of this talk is to compare the active-active and active-sterile neutrinos oscillation channels to the atmospheric neutrino anomaly using the the new sample of 33.0 kt-yr of Super-Kamiokande data. This analysis uses the latest improved calculations of the atmospheric neutrino fluxes as a function of zenith angle, taking into account a variable neutrino production point [5]. The expected neutrino event number both in the absence and the presence of oscillations can be written as:

Solar and Atmospheric Four–Neutrino Oscillations

We present an analysis of the neutrino oscillation solutions of the solar and atmospheric neutrino problems in the framework of four–neutrino mixing where a sterile neutrino is added to the three standard ones and the mass spectra presents two separated doublets. Such scenarios allow for simultaneous transitions of solar νe, as well as atmospheric νμ, into active and sterile neutrinos controlle...

In this talk we present the update (including the recent SNO results) of our analysis of the neutrino oscillation solutions of the solar and atmospheric neutrino problems in the framework of four-neutrino mixing where a sterile neutrino is added to the three standard ones and the mass spectra present two separated doublets. Such scenarios allow for simultaneous transitions of solar νe, as well ...

Four-neutrino Oscillation Solutions of the Atmospheric Neutrino Anomaly Typeset Using Revt E X 1

In the context of neutrino scenarios characterized by four (three active plus one sterile) neutrino species and by mass spectra with two separated doublets, we analyze solutions to the atmospheric neutrino anomaly which smoothly interpolate between ν µ → ν τ and ν µ → ν s oscillations. We show that, although the Super-Kamiokande data disfavor the pure ν µ → ν s channel, they do not exclude its ...

Active-active and active-sterile neutrino oscillation solutions to the atmospheric neutrino anomaly

We perform a fit to the full data set corresponding to 33.0 kt-yr of data of the Super-Kamiokande experiment as well as to all other experiments in order to compare the two most likely solutions to the atmospheric neutrino anomaly in terms of oscillations in the νμ → ντ and νμ → νs channels. Using state-ofthe-art atmospheric neutrino fluxes we have determined the allowed regions of oscillation ...

Neutrino-antineutrino Asymmetry in the Early Universe

In this talk I discuss the use of a relic neutrino-antineutrino asymmetry in suppressing active-sterile neutrino oscillations in the early universe. This phenomenon can serve to greatly loosen the well known Big Bang Nucleosynthesis constraints on active-sterile neutrino mixing, and is thus important in some proposed solutions to the solar and atmospheric neutrino anomalies which employ large-a...
